As KPMG’s Office Managing Partner, Carey McEldowney Wendle has served in a number of roles in the Portland office, including chairing KPMG’s Network of Women (KNOW) chapter in Portland.  The mission of KNOW is to advance and support women throughout their careers within KPMG and the community, of which Carey is very passionate.  Under her leadership, the KNOW chapter continues to bring together leading female professionals from the Portland community, by hosting annual Executive Women Forums.  In addition, KNOW participates in a breadth of other  activities that connect to KPMG’s citizenship goals of promoting the advancement women through our support of YWCA, Dress for Success, the Women’s Leadership Alliance and other organizations.   

 Carey has more than 24 years of experience in auditing, accounting, and financial reporting.  Her focus is on high growth companies, in a variety of industries.  Her experience includes auditing large, publicly held multinational companies as well as privately held companies of a variety of sizes. She has extensive experience with SEC compliance and all related reporting matters. She has completed a two-year rotation in the national office of a large national accounting firm. In her role there, she advised clients and engagement teams on matters of accounting and auditing. 

 Carey is an active member of the community and serves on the board of the Third Rail Repertory Theatre. Additionally, Carey has been recognized as an outstanding mentor through KPMG’s Sequoia Award for mentoring.  She has also been recognized by the Portland Business Journal with a “Women of Influence” award and is proud to be KPMG Portland’s first female Office Managing Partner, as well as a University of Portland alumnus.
