MBA: Non-matriculated Graduate Student
Students who are considering applying for the MBA Program but have not yet completed the application process may take
up to nine credit hours (3 classes) as non-matriculated students. Non-matriculated students are not eligible for financial aid and are not guaranteed admission into the MBA Program.
What courses may I take as a non-matriculated student?
You will work with the MBA Program Director to determine which courses are required (the coursework slightly varies depending on your background). The general course details include:
- Students without a recent business undergraduate degree may take Core Courses (BUS 500; BUS 501; BUS 505; BUS 506; BUS 520; and BUS 530) or Values Perspectives Courses (BUS 511; BUS 512; BUS 513).
- Students with a recent business undergraduate degree who waive the foundation-level of Core Courses may take the next level of classes which include: Marketing Elective; BUS 530; and/or BUS 560 or Values Perspective Courses (BUS 511; BUS 512; BUS 513).
What is the non-matriculated application process?
1. Submit the following: a) unofficial or official transcript documenting your undergraduate degree b) resume c) $50 application fee (check made payable to the University of Portland or call 503.943.7107 to pay by credit card) and d) non-matriculated application form to: Attn: Graduate School, MSC: 177; University of Portland; 5000 N. Willamette Blvd; Portland, OR 97203; or email to the Graduate School.
2. Correspond via email with the MBA Program Director to determine your eligibility for upcoming classes and complete a registration form, or call (503) 943-7225.
3. MBA Program Director will facilitate registration process and student ID generation with the Graduate School and the Registrar. You will then receive a confirmed schedule which will use to obtain your student ID card and computer account (both required for all students).
4. You will need to visit campus to obtain your student ID card.
