UP Accounting Association

The University of Portland Accounting Association (UPAA) strives to foster community, growth, and achievement. By coordinating events like the weekly Accounting Mentoring Forum, the UPAA facilitates student mentoring, academic assistance, and community development. Each semester UPAA hosts a professional speaker series to enrich students' academic knowledge, develop awareness about potential career opportunities, and create relationships between students, alumni, and local information management professionals. UPAA plays an integral role in the fall public accounting recruiting process by hosting Speed Networking and Meet-the-Firms events at which more than 20 professionals from eight different Northwest firms attend. UPAA is a petitioning chapter of the nationally recognized Beta Alpha Psi fraternity and offers students the opportunity to develop international connections and compete in academic competitions. In 2013 UPAA members placed 2nd in the regional KPMG/Seattle University Accounting Competition and 1st in the AICPA National Case Competition. Students from all majors are encouraged to attend UPAA/BAP events.

Beta Alpha Psi
We are proud to announce that our chapter has been recognized internationally as a Distinguished Chapter. Recognition as a Distinguished Chapter is a significant accomplishment. Under the leadership of Cecilia Lin, the University of Portland Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism, and leadership. Lynn Zoellner has said it best, "The mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to cultivate and celebrate leadership and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members." Under the leadership of Dr. Ross Hanig, the University of Portland has been recognized as an Honors Chapter for the 2014-2015 academic year.
The Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity focuses on developing principle business leaders. At the core of Alpha Kappa Psi are five values: brotherhood, knowledge, integrity, service, and unity. Club members gain knowledge through guest speakers, conventions, and networking. New members go through a pledge process, learning more about the fraternity, successful resume building, and interview skills.
Christian Business Students Association

The Christian Business Students Association exists to create a forum where students can discuss ethical and religious issues related to business. Some meetings are Bible studies, while others discuss ethical issues in relation to business. CSBA invites successful business leaders to share experiences in how to combine personal faith with the business world. CSBA also hosts The Mentors Forum dinner, and an event series to help develop future leaders, emphasizing ethical decision-making with reference to God. Other events include off-campus trips to Portland and Seattle businesses, a reflective retreat to the Oregon coast and community service.

The University of Portland Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club (EI Club) is a student run organization for anyone interested in entrepreneurship and innovation. This club believes that the practice of entrepreneurship and innovation brings out skills within us to compete in a global environment, leading to a more prosperous society and world economy. The purpose of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club is to further develop and support the community of entrepreneurial and innovative talent at the University of Portland. The EI Club will further the knowledge, spirit, and passion of entrepreneurs and innovators while providing resources for educational, social, networking, teaching, and researching events where entrepreneurial and innovative skills can be applied. This club fosters, inspires, and supports the creation of new venture opportunities, whether in an existing firm or the launch of a new firm.

The UP Investment Association gives students the opportunity to make investments and manage an investment portfolio. There is an executive advisory board comprised of local business professionals which helps advise the decisions made on the club's investment portfolio. These professionals are valuable resources for networking, internship, and job opportunities. UPIA is devoted to helping students invest as professionals, build a network through alumni and the local community, and gain valuable real-world experience. There are also many opportunities for students to travel to conferences and to volunteer throughout the community.

The University of Portland Marketing Group (UPMG) is a student-run organization dedicated to providing experience and learning opportunities to students that are interested in any and all facets of marketing. UPMG gives students the opportunity to network with industry professionals while gaining real-world experience. Each year we partner with local businesses to develop marketing campaigns for them. We also have guest speakers come in every semester to provide members with advice, experience, and details about their various marketing backgrounds.
Through these projects, students are given the opportunity to learn and grow outside of the classroom. We encourage each of our members to give us input on what they are interested in learning and experiencing within the marketing sphere, so that we can facilitate and create opportunities for them. Students pursuing any major are welcome to join the UPMG as marketing is applicable to any industry.

The Operations Management Association networks with industry leaders to foster relationships, and integrate students of multidisciplinary backgrounds into the field of operations and project management. Our mission is to create opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in various fields of operations including supply chain management, health care operations, information technology management, manufacturing, and project management. OMA organizes plant tours of local companies such as Frito Lay and Craft Brewers Alliance, and invites guest speakers to the University from companies such as Regence, Boeing, Hewlett Packard and more.
