Pamplin School of Business: Global Business B.B.A.
Study Abroad Requirement
The cultural immersion requirement of the Global Business major can be met through any of the study abroad programs sponsored by the University, or by participating in programs offered through the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES). Students are strongly advised to study in a country that will help them further their language proficiency. Students may contact Lisa Reed, Associate Dean and Liason for International Studies, at reedl@up.edu or click here to learn more.
Language Requirement
Students must demonstrate proficiency through the intermediate level of one language (other than their native language) as determined by the foreign languages department. If proficiency at intermediate level is attained in less than six hours, students must take additional electives to meet the six hour minimum for language. Students are strongly encouraged to take elective courses with an international flavor, including additional language classes.
Global Business General Curriculum
University Core Requirements – 39 hours
The University Core Curriculum emphasizes a diverse set of disciplines in order to prompt students to engage with fundamental questions of existence in a cross-disciplinary way, rather than holding that one particular discipline has all the answers. Each of our core courses embeds certain Core Skills, such as writing and analytical and logical reasoning. In developing these skills students acquire the tools they will need to contribute to and flourish in an increasingly complex world.
See the courses that make up the University Core.
School of Business - College Requirements – 51-57 hours
In conjunction with the University core requirements, all business students are required to take 51-57 courses that make up the Pamplin School of Business College requirements, business foundation, and Professional development program.

Language Requirement – 12 hours (Chinese, German, French, Spanish) |
||
|
Global Business majors must demonstrate proficiency through the intermediate level of one language (other than their native tongue) as determined by the Foreign Languages Department. If proficiency is attained prior to the taking of 12 hours, students may take non-business courses to fulfill this requirement. To accommodate this requirement, the business elective requirement of the Global Business major is reduced to six hours (two courses) to allow for the twelve credit hours of language. |
