Pamplin School of Business: Executive MBA in Nonprofit Management
The Pamplin School is driven by the faith-based foundation of our University and its tripartite mission of teaching, faith and service. A major goal of the Pamplin School is to provide students with innovative and challenging educational experiences that develop the leadership skills and knowledge required for successful management of both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. In achieving this goal, the business school helps fulfill its mission to provide recognized leadership and leaders to the local and world community through the quality and innovative character of our programs and the preparation and contributions of our graduates.
The Executive MBA in Nonprofit Management combines the best managerial and leadership skills taught in our traditional MBA with the specialized content necessary to successfully manage nonprofit organizations. The program gives students the skills, knowledge, and perspective necessary to generate value in the nonprofit sector and to help nonprofits meet the current management and leadership challenges of the 21st century.
Graduate Program Information Sessions
Information Sessions provide an opportunity to learn about our Executive MBA program, ask questions, visit campus, meet with faculty members, sit in on a class, and speak personally with current graduate students. For more information, please visit our Prospective Students page.
Who Should Apply to this Program?
Executives currently working in the nonprofit field with three or more years of managerial experience are the primary group of interest for this program. We are seeking executives from a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, including those in social services, arts, education, healthcare, government, and more. A second market attracted to this program is executives in the for-profit sector interested in transitioning to a second career in the nonprofit world. If you possess some or all of these qualifications and are interested in learning more, please email Associate Dean Howard Feldman or phone him at 503-943-7270.
Why Choose the Executive MBA program?
(1) An Executive MBA enhances your career mobility.
(2) Executive MBA students blend with our traditional MBAs in a number of classes. By mixing these two populations, new perspectives are brought to the forefront, which allows for richer and more diverse classroom experiences.
(3) Students bring unique executive experiences to the classroom, enhancing the learning environment for all involved parties.
(4) Our program caters to the part-time student, full-time employee who desires to continue working while pursuing graduate education. Courses are taught once each week, Monday through Thursday, from 4:10-6:55 PM or 7:10-9:55 PM. Students can take 1-4 classes a semester depending on schedule, class availability, etc. Coursework is also available during the summer semester.
(5) Our belief is simple: we will give you the skills and knowledge to help you work toward resolving some of the major challenges nonprofits face--funding, succession, board governance, and others—thus enjoying both personal and professional success while helping solve some of society’s most intractable problems.
